Portion of Santa Monica bluffs appear in danger of falling onto PCH

Santa Monica officials are preparing to have a crumbling portion of the bluffs above Pacific Coast Highway removed.The crack in the cliff was noticed by passersby, including Suzzane Yankovic, wife of musician "Weird Al" Yankovic.A portion of the Santa Monica bluffs that appears to be in danger of collapsing is seen on July 25, 2023. If the cliffside was to give way it would be catastrophic to those driving on the freeway below. Many working actors are struggling to make ends meet during the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, but one Hollywood star is knowing his role and putting money where his mouth is. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has made a massive donation to SAG-AFTRA members in need. According to Variety, the donation is of "historic" proportions. An ostentatious plan to open a $2 billion theme park in Oklahoma grabbed headlines this month. A Pittsburg man was killed Monday when his recreational vehicle went into a ditch near Isleton, the California Highway Patrol said.The crash was reported at 8:15 a.m. on westbound Highway 12 at Jackson Slough Road. DETROIT (AP) — Despite taking on a huge chunk of an expensive electric vehicle recall, General Motors posted $2.54 billion in second-quarter net income, a 52% increase over a year ago. Continued strong vehicle sales and pricing, as well as cost cuts, led to the better-than-expected quarter. The Detroit automaker on Tuesday raised its financial guidance for the full year with one qualification: that it can negotiate union labor contracts without a strike. Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson told reporters that customers paid about $1,600 more per vehicle last quarter than from January through March — with an average U.S. sale price of $52,000.
