PUEBLO, Colo. (KDVR) - Multiple dog rescue organizations across the state, along with Animal Law Enforcement in southern Colorado, worked Saturday to pull 30 dogs from a hoarding situation at a home in Pueblo. "This is a smaller home. A two-bedroom with 40 dogs inside it," Suzanne Morgan, Director of Cooper’s Companions Animal Rescue said. Morgan's rescue led the way in pulling 30 of the 40 dogs from the home. She said 10 of the dogs stayed with the owner on the property, and that some of the rescues are planning on going back to the home to spay and neuter the dogs that stayed with their owner. Are people already waiting in line for Casa Bonita to reopen? “We're going to make sure those dogs are spayed and neutered so we aren't back there in six months with more dogs," Morgan said. She along with several volunteers from other rescues and Animal Law Enforcement with the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region Pueblo transported the dogs to a location down the road from the home. ...Holy Cross outlasts top seed BU to capture Patriot League championship

LOS ANGELES (AP) — It’s almost time to give the Academy Awards a big hand.OK, maybe we should rephrase that. A year after Will Smith strode on stage at the Dolby Theatre and slapped Chris Rock in the face, the Oscars will reconvene Sunday for a ceremony that will try to move past one of the most infamous moments in Academy Awards history. The telecast from the Dolby in Los Angeles begins at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC. The broadcast can be streamed with a subscription to Hulu Live TV, YouTubeTV, AT&T TV and Fubo TV. You can also stream the show on ABC.com and on the ABC app by authenticating your provider.Jimmy Kimmel, the show’s first solo emcee in five years, is hosting for the third time. The late-night comedian has promised to make some jokes about The Slap; it would be “ridiculous” not to, he said. Bill Kramer, chief executive of the film academy, has said that it was important, given what happened last year, to have “a host in place who can really pivot and manage those moments.”“No...As Biden weighs Willow, he blocks other Alaska oil drilling

TEXAS (KXAN) — Preliminary reporting by America's HIV Epidemic Analysis Dashboard (AHEAD) has found the number of Texans who need HIV prevention medication and receive it is declining. Early data indicates a smaller percentage of people diagnosed with HIV in Texas are receiving medical care for it within one month of the person's diagnosis. In 2021, 79.2% of diagnosed patients received medical treatment in that first month; come 2022, that percentage had dipped to 72.6%. KXAN INVESTIGATES: 5 Texas law enforcement agencies explain missing persons reporting gap Christopher Hamilton, chief executive officer of Texas Health Action, told KXAN that while substantial progress has been made nationally in reducing HIV transmissions, funding levels have remained stagnant for those seeking treatment for an existing infection or who are taking preventative medications."We don't have a dedicated source of funding for HIV prevention through [Pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP] — there is not a f...Though Bailey Ober is throwing well, Twins unlikely to start season with six starters

Sure, anything is possible, Twins manager Rocco Baldelli acknowledged. But the idea of the team breaking camp with six starters? Well, it’s not probable at this point. The door is slightly ajar, but it doesn’t seem as if it’s something the Twins are strongly considering, despite Bailey Ober’s effective start to the spring. When the Twins opened camp nearly a month ago, the idea of a six-man rotation wasn’t in the Twins’ plans. It isn’t now, either, president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said on Saturday, but it’s an idea he’s at least a little bit more amenable to.“There’s at least a conversation we’ve been having internally about how that could work and what it would mean for the bullpen, how we would navigate that,” Falvey said. “Some of it will be health dependent, but we’re open to the conversation maybe more now than I was a month ago.”The Twins plan on running out a rotation of Pablo López, Joe Ryan, Sonny Gray, Tyler Mahle and Kenta Maeda. The latter three all ende...Stillwater schools explore bond referendum, replacing Lake Elmo and Bayport buildings

With more than 1,000 students expected to enter Stillwater Area Public Schools in the next 10 years, school officials are considering a possible bond referendum in the fall to add capacity at the elementary and middle school levels and address issues in buildings that are more than 100 years old. That could mean major changes at schools in the central and southern part of the district, where most of the growth is occurring.Schools that are already near capacity and are projected to be over capacity in the coming years include: Afton-Lakeland Elementary in Lakeland; Andersen Elementary in Bayport, and Lake Elmo Elementary and Oak-Land Middle School in Lake Elmo.“We are very early in this conversation,” said Carissa Keister, district spokeswoman. “We’re going to spend the next several months talking to our community to problem solve what are some potential solutions and opportunities.”A recent demographic study showed most of the growth will come from communities like Baytown Township,...Latest news
