MSU Denver recognized for its service to Hispanic students

DENVER (KDVR) -- Metropolitan State University in Denver is marking its recognition as one of the top Hispanic-serving institutions in the country.Recently the university was designated with a seal that it said no other school in Colorado can boast. Guided by Latina roots and medical background, Yadira Caraveo paves new path In the midst of Hispanic Heritage Month, MSU has been awarded the Seal of Excelencia by "Excelenicia in Education," an organization that focuses on Hispanics and higher education."We were one of nine this year, so a total of 39 institutions," Manuel Del Real said.Del Real is an executive director at MSU and he said it is not an award that is bestowed to many schools.The Seal of Excelencia marked the school's work to serve Hispanic students."That they're successful," Del Real said, "that they find their careers."Del Real's job is to ensure the school is properly serving the needs of its Hispanic students, of which 64% graduate with a degree from the university....Denver Police investigating outdoor death

As Israel’s war on Hamas rages on, an increased law enforcement presence continues to be seen at several synagogues and mosques across South Florida.Speaking with 7News on Saturday, local religious leaders said they are taking several precautionary measures out of an abundance of caution.“We also ran a couple of drills with the congregation in case of an active shooter or a hostage situation,” said Rabbi Ariel Yeshurun with Sky Lake Synagogue in North Miami Beach.Along with that, leaders in the Jewish community have also added extra guards and security procedures at their places of worship and schools.“Of course, we take precautions. (AP) — Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican backed by former President Donald Trump, has won the Louisiana governor’s race, holding off a crowded field of candidates.The win is a major victory for the GOP as they reclaim the governor’s mansion for the first time in eight years.
