OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- A driver was killed Sunday after crashing into a Eucalyptus tree off Interstate 5, authorities said.According to California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 2:28 a.m. when a man was driving a Hyundai Sonata in the northbound lanes of I-5 in Oceanside.For reasons still under investigation, CHP says the Hyundai veered off the roadway to the right and collided into the tree. Police shooting involving a 16-year-old prompts road closures in Carlsbad CHP, the Oceanside Police Department and paramedics with the Oceanside Fire Department all responded to the crash site. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said.It is not yet known if alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the cause of this collision. BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — A small propeller-driven plane crashed during an airshow in central Hungary on Sunday killing two people and seriously injuring three people on the ground, police said.The fatal accident at the Börgönd air show in Fejér county happened at about 3.20 p.m. local time and the cause was not immediately known. The pilot and passenger, ages 67 and 37, both died, while three people in a car near the impact site suffered serious burns and were hospitalized, police said in a statement.Video footage of the crash online shows a small aircraft performing a rotation movement as it ascends and descends but it ultimately crashed and burst into flames. IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — A pit bull puppy that California police believe got into its owners’ fentanyl stash was administered an overdose-reversing drug and is recovering, officials said. The dog’s owners, a man and a woman, were arrested and could face charges including drug possession and animal cruelty, according to the Irvine Police Department. The incident began with a “consensual” encounter between the couple and police on Wednesday outside a Walmart, department spokesman Kyle Oldoerp said. (KOIN) – A big shake-up is headed for grocery shoppers as Kroger and Albertsons announced their plan to possibly sell 413 grocery stores across 17 states and the District of Columbia.The sale, which includes other assets and is valued at $1.9 billion, is intended to help create a clear path for the merger with antitrust regulators reviewing the deal. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A man in Albany has been arrested following an investigation into a confrontation on First Street, according to police. Algun Inman, 34, is facing multiple charges. Upon arrival, officers observed Inman to be in possession of a 9mm handgun. Inman was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
