Heck yeah, his mentor says. Here’s why. “Can’t fake winning. Can’t fake toughness.”

BOULDER — One question, Mickey Andrews. Just one. Is this thing gonna work?“He told me when they started their offseason program,” Andrews, one of Deion Sanders’ oldest and most beloved mentors, recalled by phone when I asked about the 2023 Buffs. “He told me, ‘Coach, there’s just not many guys out here that show they want to win bad enough.’“You can’t fake winning. It’s just like toughness. Can’t fake toughness. Either you’ve got it or you don’t.”Andrews thinks CU gets there under Coach Prime. Eventually.“I’m anxious to see how that bunch does,” the former Florida State defensive coordinator, 81 years young, continued.“You know (Sanders) is working his heinie off to make sure those guys represent Colorado in the right kind of way. And it hasn’t been that way lately.”The honeymoon either crashes to a halt Saturday or goes straight into orbit. The Coach Prime Era starts as a 20-point road dog at No. 17 TCU. Randy Gregory has more to give. He doesn’t need to be reminded of that. The 30-year-old edge rusher knows he has never played a full season in his career and that a knee injury limited him to six games in 2022 after the Broncos gave him a five-year, $70 million contract. For Gregory to make good on Denver’s investment, he must win the battle within. Yes, Gregory’s physical health is essential to staying on the field and being the electrifying pass rusher who’s impressed teammates and head coach Sean Payton. But he knows the mental aspect will allow him to handle the ups and downs of an NFL season.Entering Year 2 in the Mile High City, Gregory believes he is in the right headspace to help a formidable defense reach another level.“Everyone is tied up on the physical, (but) the biggest thing for me this offseason was getting the mental (aspect) down,” Gregory said. “Being able to fight those little mental battles. You are going to have bad plays, (so) put them behind you and move o...Coach Prime, Rams and Mines, oh my! How to plan perfect Colorado college football road trip for 2023, week by week.

My diagnosis with breast cancer at the age of 30 shattered my world. It challenged my sense of who I was and who I was becoming. I was young, newly married, healthy (I thought) and ambitious — in other words, thriving — and planning for the future. In fact, at the time of my diagnosis, my husband and I had just started thinking about trying for a baby.My breast cancer diagnosis was triple-negative invasive ductal carcinoma — a particularly fast-growing and aggressive type. On top of that, I carry a BRCA1 mutation, which puts me at very high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. This genetic legacy was why my father, as a young person, watched his mother die of breast cancer and witnessed his aunt and grandmother suffer through it.Our family-building hopes were put on hold as I stepped back from work and underwent 16 months of cancer treatment: 26 rounds of chemotherapy, four surgeries, six visits to the emergency room and hundreds of doctor appointments in between.Fo...Single-family house in Danville sells for $1.9 million
