Abrams, Nats squeeze past Cubs for 2nd straight night, 2-1 WASHINGTON (AP) — Jake Irvin had dozen of relatives and friends fly in from his native Minnesota to witness his major league debut for the Washington Nationals — and then he hit the “O” on the back of Nico Hoerner’s jersey with the first pitch of his career.“I gotta imagine I’m one of few to do that, right?” Irvin said. “Just laugh it off, man. Next hitter.”Things improved significantly from there for the 26-year-old right-hander, who held the Chicago Cubs’ potent lineup to two singles over 4 1/3 innings. Four Washington relievers gave up four singles the rest of the way, and the Nationals turned four double plays to beat the Cubs 2-1 on a damp and unseasonably chilly Wednesday night.“This is something you dream of from the day you pick up a baseball,” Irvin said. “I’m on top of the world and props to the team, man. Guys played great behind me.”CJ Abrams had a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning for the second consecutive game for the Nationals, and ...

Lucas: Donald Trump, Hunter Biden face wrath of scorned women Hell hath no fury like a stripper scorned.Cross them and you just might end up in court, like Hunter Biden and Donald Trump. All these men had to do was treat the two women — Lunden Roberts and Stormy Daniels — with a little respect and things might have turned out differently. But they didn’t.So, the strippers dragged both men into court, forcing them to face a judge — and maybe a jury — for their disdainful behavior toward them.Who would have thought that Hunter Biden and Donald Trump would have so much in common as far as women are concerned?Trump never should have called porn star Stormy Daniels “horseface.” She is the woman with whom he is alleged to have had an affair with — which he denies. What woman would not have fire in her eyes after such a gross insult? A man would have punched him out.Now she will testify against him in the politically charged trial launched by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, charging that Trump falsified business records over $130,000 in ...

They came, they posed, they conquered style at the MET Gala

They came, they posed, they conquered style at the MET Gala With all due respect to The Academy Awards, the place where celebrities show up every year with the most dramatic career-changing fashion statements is New York’s  Met Gala. There, on the red carpeted steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Vogue’s Anna Wintour holds court and welcomes attendees to the black-tie fundraising event for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. And the goal isn’t to necessarily to look stunning, so much as it is to stun, to present an artistic statement, and of course, to get as much attention as possible. This all coincides with a different theme each year, and this year’s was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” Lagerfeld, the late designer who worked for luxury brands including Patou, Chloé, Balmain, Fendi, Chanel, as well as his own label, was a controversial choice this year. After decades of remarks considered racist, homophobic, and intolerant of women’s bodies and dismissive of sexual assault, Lagerfeld’s legacy had alienated a s...
