Five individuals arrested in illegal firearms and narcotics bust in Fillmore  Five people were arrested on numerous weapons and narcotics charges on Wednesday afternoon after authorities surveilled a residence in Fillmore. “Detectives conducted surveillance operations and witnessed activity at the residence that was consistent with possible narcotics trafficking,” the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Authorities stopped Jayden Mercado, 25, of Santa Paula after he was observed arriving at the residence and leaving shortly afterwards, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. Mercado was initially arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance, and a further search of his vehicle found a loaded short-barreled .22 caliber rifle with ammunition, drug paraphernalia, fentanyl and methamphetamine. Man killed in Long Beach hit-and-run, suspect at large Police are searching for a hit-and-run suspect that left a man dead in Long Beach in February.On Feb. 19, Long Beach officers found a man lying on the road near the area of Pacific Coast Highway between Pasadena Avenue and Linden Avenue around 6:30 p.m.Investigators said the victim was crossing PCH when he was struck by a vehicle. Venice homicide suspect turns himself in: LAPD A man accused of fatally shooting another man in Venice over the weekend has turned himself in to authorities, police said Thursday.The shooting was reported around 6 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Indiana Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.At the scene, responding officers found a man in his 50s who had been shot. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.The suspect had fled the area by the time first responders arrived, police said.“The incident was determined to be a family violence situation involving adults that did not reside at the location,” police said in a news release without elaborating.The suspect, Donald Ray Boyce, turned himself in to police two days later.The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office later charged Boyce, 57, of Los Angeles, with murder, police said.No further details about the incident have been released.

(KDVR) — As high winds hit the Front Range and sparked multiple wildfires around the region, another sparked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.The fire was reported Thursday around 6:45 p.m. near Quebec Street and Dick's Sporting Goods Park, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Wildfire forces evacuations in Park, Teller counties Fire officials had knocked down the fire by around 7:15 p.m. It was estimated around 6 acres in size.Mop-up was expected to continue through the night Thursday, with a fire investigation team ordered for Friday, the Fish and Wildlife Service said.South Adams Fire was responding to the scene.
