CHICAGO — A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot in the eye in the Austin neighborhood Tuesday evening, according to the Chicago Police Department.Police said the 14-year-old girl was standing in a group in an alley in the 5000 block of West Washington Boulevard when shots were heard and the girl was shot in the eye.She was taken to Loretto Hospital in critical condition from the scene. THE BRONX, N.Y. (WPIX) – Four people, including two young children, were injured when a scooter-riding gunman allegedly opened fire outside a park in the Bronx Tuesday evening, police said.The shooting happened outside St. James Park near East 193rd Street and Morris Avenue around 5:50 p.m., according to the NYPD. Surveillance video showed two suspects pulling up on a motorized scooter outside St. James Park. The passenger got off the scooter before firing into a crowd of people, injuring two children and two men outside the park, NYPD officials said.Two brothers, a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old, who were with their mother on East 193rd Street both suffered wounds to their leg, police said. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A Tennessee surgeon is dead and a patient accused of shooting him is in custody, police said Tuesday. The shooting happened around 2 p.m. inside the Campbell Clinic in Collierville, located about 25 miles southeast of Memphis. According to Collierville Police, a healthcare worker was fatally shot by a patient in an exam room.The suspect was taken into custody without incident outside the clinic roughly five minutes after the shooting, Police Chief Dale Lane said during an evening press conference. The suspect, who reportedly had a handgun "in his possession" when he was apprehended, has not yet been identified."This appears to be a one-on-one interaction," Lane explained, adding that the patient had been in the clinic "for several hours" before the incident. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- One person is dead, and another person was arrested after a vehicle-pedestrian crash over the weekend in east Austin, the Austin Police Department said in a news release Tuesday.At approximately 11:15 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 5400 block of Pecan Brook Drive for reports of a crash involving an SUV and a pedestrian, the release said.The SUV driver hit a boat trailer parked on the roadway and then hit the pedestrian, Janicia Molina, 30, according to police.The driver, Marena Falcon-De la Rosa, 27, was arrested for intoxication manslaughter, the release said.This incident is being investigated as the 52nd fatal crash of 2023, which resulted in 52 fatalities for the year, according to police. (NEWS10) -- Three Albany men were arrested on gun and drug charges after a vehicle pursuit on Tuesday.Around 11 a.m., police were attempting to stop a vehicle on the 200-block of Sherman Street as part of an ongoing investigation. Police said the driver, Jaquan Caldwell, 27, did not comply and led detectives on a chase. Hospital officials with Dignity Health in San Bernardino are asking for the public’s help in identifying a patient who has been hospitalized for more than a week. The unidentified male was brought to the hospital on July 2, at around 5 a.m., after he was reportedly found near 1885 E. Lynwood Dr. in San Bernardino. “The hospital is seeking the public’s help in identifying this patient because he had no documentation or evidence of his identity with him,” officials said in a news release. (KRON) -- An Oakland A's fan group planned a protest at the MLB All-Star Game in Seattle Tuesday night. During the fifth inning of the game, "Sell the Team" chants rang out at T-Mobile Park. The group, called Oakland 68s, passed out cards that said "Sell the Athletics" and outlined the plan for the protest. You can hear the chants in the video above. The chants were hardly audible during FOX's broadcast of the game, as the telecast cut to an interview with Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani while fans chanted.
