AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Inside the UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, Dr. Roland Flores is no stranger to asking patients tough questions. As an anesthesiologist, Flores needs to know everything he can about each patient, as he prepares a mix of drugs to put them to sleep for surgery. But there's one question Flores said patients aren't always honest with: Do you use marijuana?“I think people are kind of uncomfortable with it because of the quasi-legality of it between the federal and state laws,” Flores said. Rainfall record broken at Denver International Airport Flores said it's an important question to answer truthfully because it can have a major impact on your treatment. He's discovered regular marijuana users require significantly more medication — not only to put them to sleep but to keep them asleep during surgery. He said patients who use marijuana also require more medication after surgery to remain comfortable. SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The same storm dumping record-breaking rain on the Denver metro area is also dropping several inches of snow in the high country. Summit County, Rocky Mountain National Park, Medicine Bow Range, Mosquito Range and Indian Peaks are under a winter storm warning until 12 p.m. Friday.“It is not unusual. We get some of our best precipitation and moisture from March to May, and over the years we seem to be morphing to a little bit of those early May storms,” Rocky Mountain National Park public affairs officer Kyle Patterson said. Rainfall record broken at Denver International Airport However, Patterson said at this time of year, visitors regularly arrive to the park unprepared for winter weather. “They’re looking at the date on the calendar and think, it’s spring,” she said. “We see visitors that are not prepared for three feet of snow at Bear Lake, which is what we have right now.”Areas above 10,000 feet are expected to see the highest snow totals. PARKER, Colo. (KDVR) — Many homeowners have questions about how to find a reliable contractor to repair roofs, siding and broken windows after this week’s rain and hail storms. Golf ball-sized hail destroyed the sunroof on Stefanie Neubecker's home. “It’s completely gone, as you can tell the rain is all coming through,” she said. Neubecker’s main concern is finding a trustworthy contractor to make the needed repairs. Jeff Brown of Colorado Superior Roofing and Exteriors told the FOX31 Problem Solvers the first thing homeowners should do is take a good look around the property and estimate the damage. “If you’ve got damage on your car, for example, if you’ve got damage on your windows or siding, other soft metals, like you see dents in your gutters, you may have roof damage,” Brown said. What to know before you file a claim for hail damage Brown, who is also a member of the Colorado Roofing Association, said that potential contractors should be properly licensed to do work in your...Jayson Tatum overcomes early struggles, delivers late as Celtics beat 76ers, force Game 7
