ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — The Turkish government is facing mounting pressure to seek the return of the Somali president’s son, who allegedly fled Turkey after causing a fatal traffic crash in Istanbul.Yunus Emre Gocer, a 38-year-old motorcycle courier, died of injuries in a hospital on Dec. 6, six days after he was hit by a car driven by Mohammed Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on a busy highway in Istanbul.Turkish authorities ordered Mohamud arrested and barred him from traveling abroad following the motorcyclist’s death, but reports said the Somali president’s son had already left Turkey by the time the warrant was issued. On Sunday, dozens of people, including motorcycle courier groups, staged a demonstration in Istanbul demanding that Mohamud face trial for Gocer’s death.Ekrem Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul and a prominent opposition politician, tweeted a security camera video of the crash, claiming that the “suspect left Turkey with his hands free,” and accusing the government of “bein...Forced-labour watchdog opens probe against Guess over possible Uyghur slave labour

OTTAWA — Canada’s corporate watchdog is launching a probe against the company Guess over possible ties to Uyghur forced labour in China. The ombudsperson for responsible enterprise, Sheri Meyerhoffer, says the company has not done enough to prove that it has no supply relationships with Chinese companies that source materials from factories that employ people being forced to work.Guess disputes this claim, arguing Meyerhoffer lacks credible evidence and that the three Chinese companies she names are not part of its supplier list.Meyerhoffer says Guess has also argued she doesn’t have jurisdiction to look into the matter, as the Canadian subsidiary is not involved in the work that occurs abroad. The watchdog has launched similar probes this year into the Canadian branches of firms such as Levi Strauss, Walmart, Hugo Boss and Nike.China has strongly pushed back on claims that forced labour is taking place, saying they are not grounded in evidence and they are motivated to sm...Gildan Activewear names Vince Tyra as next chief executive

It's also another game magnified by a crucial late-game mistake by a Chiefs wide receiver, or a call or non-call by an official. Will Chiefs, Royals compromise to get stadium tax on Jackson County ballot? When the Chiefs had the ball with just over a minute left on second and 10, Patrick Mahomes found Travis Kelce for a 25-yard gain on the right side of the field. After Kelce caught the pass, he threw a lateral across the field to Kadarius Toney, who finished the play with what would have been a touchdown. But Toney was called offsides before the snap, nullifying the touchdown. The Chiefs turned the ball over on downs two plays later, ending the game. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Yellow leaves and bare branches are sure signs winter is on its way. For Texans, the month of December means peak cedar fever season as well.According to the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Agency, from December through the end of February, mountain cedar trees produce dense amounts of pollen which can lead to allergy symptoms.Texas experts also indicate the season may have started earlier this year due to an especially hot fall.Dr. Ryan Prudoff with Family Emergency Room at Georgetown said allergy symptoms often begin mildly with itchy eyes, runny nose, and scratchy throat. He said over-the-counter allergy medications are best used before allergy symptoms start. He said the drugs could be less effective against symptoms already in progress."I would definitely recommend taking some kind of allergy-based medication," Prudoff said.Prudoff said antihistamines such as Benadryl should be used with caution as they can often make a person drowsy. He also recommends allergy ...Latest news
