CHICAGO (AP) — Ashley Westwood scored the only goal Kristijan Kahlina would need in the first half and Charlotte FC defeated Chicago 2-0 on Saturday night, keeping its playoff hopes alive while preventing the Fire from clinching a postseason berth.Westwood found the net for a third time this season, scoring unassisted in the 23rd minute to give Charlotte (9-11-12) the lead for good. Kahlina finished with three saves to earn his fifth clean sheet of the season. Karol Swiderski added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the 58th minute. It was his 12th netter of the campaign. OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Angel Flores ran for two touchdowns, Coleman Owen had an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown and Northern Arizona beat Weber State 27-10 on Saturday night. Flores ran into the end zone from the 6 early in the second quarter, and his 16-yard touchdown run capped the scoring with 2:35 remaining. He carried just six times for 52 yards. Adam Damante was 25-of-31 passing for 183 yards for Northern Arizona (2-4, 2-1 Big Sky Conference). Owen’s scored early in the second quarter, and Damate’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Phillips Jr. gave the Lumberjacks a 20-10 lead heading into the break. Devon Starling added 94 yards rushing on 21 carries for the Lumberjacks. OVIEDO, Fla. (WSVN) — Outraged by what they saw on video, the parents of a 9-year-old boy who was handcuffed at his Central Florida school have filed a lawsuit against the city and the school resource officers involved.Back on Feb. 2, the two officers entered the mailroom at Stenstrom Elementary School in Oviedo, near Orlando.According to a police report, the school’s staff attempted to de-escalate a situation with a fourth grader who was cursing, screaming and throwing things in the mailroom.The lawsuit, later filed by the student’s family, said the student had an Individual Education Plan and Behavior Intervention Plan, identifying physical aggression as a behavioral problem.Officer worn body camera video shows staff using blocking pads made for situations like this, but officers were later seen handcuffed the boy while asking him to calm down.“Stand up for me, bud.
